I am pleased to announce the availability of BLCR 0.8.0_beta3 from http://mantis.lbl.gov/blcr-dist/ Both source tarball and SRPM are available. The filenames and MD5 checksums are: 55263cd051df3b7240a6d2b04db2a93e blcr-0.8.0_b3.tar.gz 9777f6b2c6eb5c353220b53a20c803a3 blcr-0.8.0_b3-1.src.rpm Thanks to those who have sent email or have updated Bugzilla to indicate what issues remain or have been resolved with the 0.8.0 betas we are getting closer to the actual 0.8.0 release. Relative to the previous beta, this release changes the following: + fix another FPU restore problem (i386 & x86_64 w/ 2.6.28-rc<N>) + improves handling of LAM/MPI's restart behavior + a 'lam' test has been added in the hope of keeping us from breaking LAM/MPI support again as we apparently did in all of 0.7.X + 'ptrace' has been removed from the default test suite, due to the known failure on recent Fedora kernels. The failure is considered irrelavent for "normal" use of BLCR. Relative to the eventual 0.8.0 release, this Beta still lacks a few minor features and the HTML documentation may need additional updates. Based on our in-house testing, this release is considered stable (though ARM and PPC platforms are still designated as EXPERIMENTAL due to our inability to test them as well as i386 and x86_64). If you have reported a bug recently, especially if you've been told to expect a fix in 0.8.0, please try out this Beta release and let us know if your problem is fixed and especially if it is not. If you have run an earlier Beta and had no problems, you don't need to try this one unless you are feeling bored. If you *did* have a problem with a previous Beta of 0.8.0, please *do* try this one to see if there is still a problem (and *please* report it if there is). There will still be at least one more Beta release prior to the full 0.8.0, to include minor features still not completed/merged and to update the HTML docs as needed. -Paul PS You are receiving this either because you are on the checkpoint_at_lbl_dot_gov list, because you've recently sent email to the list (or me directly) asking about BLCR status, or because our Bugzilla shows your interests in a bug fixed in this beta. -- Paul H.
