You are receiving this message because you are on the checkpoint_at_lbl_dot_gov list, or have e-mailed us in the past with questions about the development status of Berkeley Lab Checkpoint/Restart (BLCR) for Linux. I am pleased to announce that version 0.4.2 is now available on our website at http://ftg.lbl.gov/checkpoint This release marks as "stable", the experimental 2.6 kernel support first available in 0.4.0 and the Opteron/EM64T support available in the 0.4.1-beta series. There are also numerous bug fixes in this release. After packaging of BLCR 0.4.2, we were made aware of a significant kernel change in the 2.6.12 and later kernels. Therefore release 0.4.2 works only with kernels upto 2.6.11. As soon as possible, we'll post a 0.4.3 release or a patch (depending on the size of the changes) to allow BLCR to work with 2.6.12 and newer kernels. Opteron/EM64T users should be aware of two limitations: + There is no support for 2.4 kernels with the x84_64 architecture (and no plans for it) + There is currently no support for 32-bit apps on 64-bit kernels, but the support is in early testing and may be avaialble in 0.4.3. -Paul -- Paul H.
