ALL: This is a reminder about an AG conference scheduled for 4-5pm PDT, Tuesday, Oct 8 in the IU Institutional venue. If you wish to attend by telephone there will be bridge: Long Distance users call 1-877-252-5250, Local users call 510-647-3480, then press 1, enter 217373# and follow the instructions. We'll begin with progress reports, and then ramble on into technical BS. The major technical issue for this call will be synchronization within signal context. As Sriram and I discovered on Monday, even calling printf within a signal handler manipulates an internal mutex and can cause corruption of the pthread data structures if the signal interrupts a blocked pthread_mutex_lock() call. I have a proposed solution to be added to libcr, since this is not a LAM-specific problem. LBNL: I am assuming we have returned to the 50B 1st floor AG node this week unless I hear otherwise. -Paul -- Paul H.
